Visual and interaction design methods are often rendered hidden in modern scientific practice. What would it mean if design were a core part of our modern research practice?

We present our design process with researchers at JPL and Caltech as a marker in the evolving historical relationships between the fields. Through text and images, we offer a glimpse into the importance of visual and interaction design methods both as a way of knowing and as a common way of contributing to science in the modern era.
